SPORTS CAMPS 


BOY’S BASKETBALL:  Coach Eric Lawrence is the lead instructor, along with past and present Lancer players. Camp will focus on fundamental skills, including ball handling/passing, defense, individual/team defense, shooting, rebounding, and leadership skills. Young men participating in camp will have a chance to see their improvement in skills through a variety of competitive events, including scrimmages, a one on one tournament, shooting competitions, and five on five situations.

Session I (Boys): (Grades 9-12): June 18-21 – 6:00pm-8:00pm

Session II (Boys): (Grades 4-6): June 18-21 – 11:00am - 12:30pm

Session III (Boys): (Grades 7-8): June 18-21 – 12:30pm - 2:00pm


GIRL’S BASKETBALL:  Coach Aaron Portell is the lead instructor, along with other basketball staff members. Camp will focus on fundamental skills including ball handling, defense, shooting, rebounding and passing as well as playing in scrimmages.

Session I (Girls): (Grades 9-12): June 18-22 – 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Session II (Girls): (Grades 4-8): June 18-22 – 3:30pm – 5:00pm


LIL LANCERS BASKETBALL (CO-ED): A great way to be introduced to the FUNdamentals of basketball as Coach Portell and his staff work on basics such as dribbling, passing, shooting and the basic rules of the game.

Little Lancers (Grades 2-3): June 18-22 – 5:00pm-6:00pm 


FOOTBALL:  Coach Jerry Woods and his staff provide an affordable opportunity for youth flag and tackle players to develop a technique-driven skill-set that will increase safe participation, and a team driven mindset to encourage them to engage in greater sportsmanship.  Students will be taught proper skills and each camper will receive a “Camper Assessment” from the coaching staff with specific areas of improvement and drills to continue their growth.

Session I: (Grades 5-8): July 23-26 – 4:00pm – 5:30pm

Session II: (Grades 9-12): July 23-26 - 6:00pm – 8:00pm 


BOY’S SOCCER:  Coach Steve Smith, his staff, and current varsity soccer players provide an opportunity for young players to learn about the game of soccer, develop into a better soccer player with an emphasis on technique, reading the game, speed of play and thought, and the importance of being coachable. This will be accomplished by getting as many touches on the ball as possible through technical drills and competitive small-sided games including a 4 v 4 tournament.

Session I (Boys):  (Grades 5-8): June 4-8 – 8:00am-10:00am

Session II (Boys): (Grades 9-12): June 4-8 – 10:30 am-12:00 pm 


GIRL’S SOCCER:  Coach Aaron Portell and his staff will offer instruction on proper technique for passing, defending, moving without the ball, shooting and more. Individual drills will be supplemented with small-sided games.

Session I (Girls): (Grades 4-8 ): July 16-20 – 8:00am- 10:30am

Session II (Girls): ( Grades 9-12): July 16-20 – 11:00am – 12:30pm


SOFTBALL:  Coach Kevin Halley and his staff, who have won four district titles in the past 10 years, as well as current players, will focus on improving fundamentals for players, including hitting, baserunning, fielding, throwing, pitching and catching.

Session I: (Grades 6-12): June 11-14 – 9:00am-11:30am 


TENNIS CO-ED:  Coach Stephen Kainz, whose St. Pius X teams hold district championships in both boy’s and girl’s tennis, is the instructor, along with a team of current and former tennis team members. Participants will learn proper technique for serves, returns, groundstrokes, volleys and more. Beginners will be taught basic rules and scoring and more experienced players will go over more detailed game elements and strategies.

Session I (Grades 5-8): June 25 - June 29 – 9:00am-10:30am

Session II (Grades 9-12): June 25 - June 29 – 10:30am-12:00pm  


VOLLEYBALL: State championship-winning Coach Shannon Leftridge and her staff will focus on building fundamental skills and individual confidence in areas such as hitting, serving and receiving, and game strategies.

Session I (Grades 9-12): July 9-12 - 9:00am-11:30am

Session II (Grades 5-8): July 9-12 – 1:00pm-3:00pm 

 

SUMMER SEMINARS


ART

Session I: July 16-20, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Rising 5th-8th graders

Session II: July 16-20, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Rising 9th-12th graders

Session I will focus on different medium each day. Past media have included clay, print-making, painting, drawing, and flower pressing.  Session II will focus on the human portrait. The week will conclude with an art show and refreshments.

 


ENGINEERING and ROBOTICS

SESSION II Advanced Robotics & Puzzle Cube: June 25-29, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Rising 6th, 7th, 8th grade students

Join us for an exciting week of investigating all things engineering! Campers will participate in hands-on activities to explore a broad spectrum of science and robotics topics. If students register for both camps they may bring a sack lunch and eat on campus with other campers and the camp directors. For Robotics, please note that Beginning Robotics is for students who did not attend the 2017 session, while Advanced Robotics is for those who did attend the 2017 session. 


THEATER

Rising 5th - 9th grade students

Come learn about all things Theatre! Become comfortable with being just a little bit crazy. Auditioning, Acting, improv, staging, sound and lighting basics are things we will cover this week. Please bring a snack to share for the week on Monday and a drink daily. Family and friends are invited to our free mini performance on Friday at 11:30.
