Jerry M Overberg

Jerry Michael Overberg, 70, of Festus, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born April 23, 1955, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Jerome “Jerry” A. Overberg and Rita (Stolzer) Overberg.

From an early age, Jerry could be found helping at his family’s business, Overberg Decorating, on Main Street in Festus. That upbringing led him into a lifelong career as a professional painter and, eventually, owner of the business with his brother, John. His work took him throughout the Midwest, where he painted for large corporations, yet he always continued serving local families with residential projects. Later, Jerry found a new calling as a Realtor with RE/MAX Best Choice, where his dedication and friendly spirit earned him lasting relationships.

Outside of work, Jerry loved life to the fullest. He enjoyed boating, RVing, traveling, and cheering for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, especially going to games. Country music often filled the background of his days, but his greatest joy was time spent with his family. He was a member of Faith Church in St. Louis, Missouri.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of more than 32 years, Rhonda Sue (Gaddy) Overberg; his daughters, Janelle (Derek) Wyatt of Crystal City, Ashley (Nick) Atkins of St. Louis, and Michelle (Lance) Portell of St. Charles; his step-sons, Mike (Allie) Kister and Mathew (Courtney Jordan) Kister, both of Festus; his siblings, Rick (Norma) Overberg of Festus, John Overberg of St. Louis, Peggy (Bill) Herrell of Pevely, Cindy (John Bliss) Laiben of Imperial, Mary (Bruce) King of Herculaneum, and Shelley (Chuck) Otec of Crystal City. He was the proud grandfather of Brenna, Jayden, Chase, Camden, Christian, Camryn, Chloe, Kyleigh, Madalynn, and Maverick, and will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia “Pat” Ortmeyer, and his brother, Kenny Overberg.

Services will be held at Mahn Funeral Home, Twin City Chapel in Festus on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Bobbie Browne officiating. Entombment will follow at Peaceful Ridge Mausoleum in De Soto, Missouri.
