Linda Shapiro

It is with profound sadness that we share that Linda Louise Shapiro passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on July 24, 2025 after a long and fierce four-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her husband of eighteen years, Elbert Allen Springer Jr., her daughters Emme Geissal and Ellen (Danielle) Morvant, and her beloved grandchildren Deja and Caleb. She is survived also by her siblings Jan Shapiro, Greg (Kimberly) Shapiro, and David (Kelley) Shapiro, as well her many nieces, nephews, and their families. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Virginia Shapiro, and her granddaughter, Noah.

Born in St. Louis on June 8, 1951, Linda grew up in Festus, Missouri. She attended Fontbonne University and the Catholic University of America, then spent five years as a music teacher mostly in the Washington DC area. She later graduated from Washington University School of Law. She practiced government contract and business immigration law for 31 years as an associate attorney at Thomson Coburn LLP where she later made partner. In her later years, Linda honed her green thumb and became a certified Master Gardener. She was a frequent volunteer at the St. Louis Botanical Garden, and her home was proudly featured on the 2021 St. Louis Garden Tour. A devout Catholic, Linda was also an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she served on the Parish Council, was involved with planning many ACTS retreats, and forged many life-long friendships.

Linda was a skilled baker, a wine enthusiast, and an avid traveler. She had impeccable style and an unmatched eye for good taste in all things in life. Linda shared her curiosity, kindness, and joie de vivre with everyone who knew and loved her, and she will be missed beyond measure by her many cherished friends and her beloved family.

Visitation will be held at Bopp Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, July 28 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be given on Tuesday, July 29 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 10:00 am with a burial to follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Crystal City, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s memory to the Patient Assistance Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
