Robert D. Bailey of Bellevue, NE passed away peacefully in his sleep. Born to Joseph Bailey and Mary (Worth) Bailey of Festus, MO on Dec 19, 1945. Bob moved to Omaha with his young family in the early 80’s. He raised his family in Papillion where he continued his devotion to local public service as a member of the St. Columbkille Shepherds for the rest of his life.
Bob Graduated from Mizzou in 1968 with a degree in Agriculture. He then served his country in the US Navy from 1968 until 1974 as an Aviation Electronics Engineer, earning the rank of First Platoon Leader.
A farm boy at heart, Bob spent his professional career working in the agricultural industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Joseph as well as his sister Margaret Joseph. Bob leaves behind his cherished children Jessica Bailey-Bartini of New York City and Eric Bailey of Plattsmouth, NE. He was a devoted grandfather to Eric’s children Gage, Charlie and Layla. He is also survived by his daughter in law Ashley (Roberts) Bailey and his son in law Kevin Bartini.
Bob was a sports fan who loved the Raiders and Mizzou. He loved a good dirty joke and equally a sappy Hallmark holiday movie.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Jessica Bailey; son, Eric Bailey; and three grandchildren.
Those who knew and love Bob will remember his easy-going manner, his boisterous laugh and his long-winded assessments of the current soy and corn crops.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The St. Columbkille Shepherds.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: Sunday July 28, 2024, 3:00PM at West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00PM.
