Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the age of 79. Loving husband of 56 years to Katherine "Kathy" Ferguson (nee Schiller); cherished father of Matt (John Colglazier) Ferguson, Sarah (Glenda Gaugh) Ferguson, Andrea (Ted) Hoog; beloved Papa of Olivia and Avery Hoog; dear brother of James (Mary Beth) Ferguson, Kathy (John) Jercinovic, and Gregory (Patricia) Ferguson. He was a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leslie and Geraldine Ferguson (nee Pieschel).
Larry taught 5th grade at Lewis and Clark Elementary and Mid Rivers Elementary in the Fort Zumwalt School District for 32 years. He had a great sense of humor and was always in a good mood. Outside of teaching, he enjoyed going to the gym, cooking (especially chili cook-offs), traveling, and having a good glass of wine. He battled Parkinson's with bravery and optimism. In the face of adversity, he always showed perseverance. He instilled these values in his children. Above all, his family was most important to him. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and going on family trips. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 4-8pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home (St. Charles). Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 25, at 10:30am at All Saints Catholic Church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
